We invite everyone to join us in celebrating the Sikh festival of Vaisakhi with our annual Nagar Kirtan procession in Nottingham.
For Sikhs, Vaisakhi celebrates the formation of the Khalsa Panth in 1699 by their 10th Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji and is a time to celebrate their faith and identity.
In line with the Sikh principles, everyone is welcome and langar (free food) will be available to all.
During the month of April, in celebration of Vaisakhi, colourful processions called Nagar Kirtans take place around the world. In Nottingham, the Nagar Kirtan normally goes by each of the seven Gurdwaras in the City. Starting in 2024 however, the Nagar Kirtan adopted an alternating route visiting 4 Gurdwaras each year allowing for a shorter and easier route for the congregation.
This year in 2026 we return to the same route as 2024, visiting Guru Nanak Satsang Gurdwara Forest Road, Raja Sahib Gurdwara Mansfield Road, Siri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara Nottingham Road and Gurdwara Ramgarhia Sabha Percy Street.
Starting at 10:30am from Guru Nanak Sat Sang Gurdwara, 60-62 Forest Road West, Nottingham, NG7 4EP, the Nagar Kirtan will finish at Gurdwara Ramgarhia Sabha, Percy Street. In this event you will be able to experience:
- Langar - Free vegetarian food for all
- Gatka - Sikh martial art sword fighting displays
- Meditation and Music

The 3 core beliefs of Sikhi are to remember God, earn a honest living and to share what you have with others. It originated in the 15th century, in the Punjab region in the northern part of the Indian subcontinent, based on the revelation of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Jee.
